Both Parent and Teen Need to Read and Sign at the Bottom.
Dear Dallas Israel Teen Tour Parents and Teens,
We look forward to the 2022 Dallas Israel Teen Tour. Your teen is about to embark on a wonderful adventure. We want to share some of our thoughts about this summer experience and ask that you discuss the issues outlined in this letter with your teen.
To Parents: We want to involve our parents in the process of preparing teen participants for a successful summer with clear expectations and responsibilities. We need your support as partners, in helping our teen participants make good decisions about their behavior while they are away from home. We ask you and your teen to sign a Code of Conduct. It is our aim that the code provides a framework for ethical and responsible behavior.
To Participants: The journey you are about to commence can be for you, as it has been for many who have gone before you, one of the most thrilling, rewarding and meaningful of your life. You will see amazing sights, develop friendships, and have lots of unforgettable fun. It is our aim that you have a safe and secure travel experience, and that you will be inspired by Israel – feeling proud of yourself and your people.
Making Good Decisions: The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas (JFGD) will strive to provide the highest level of caring supervision in a way that allows the participants to feel they are being treated with respect. As program sponsors and parents, we must understand that the behavior of our participants will depend on their own sense of what is right and wrong. This is especially important when participants are occasionally away from the group, such as limited free times during meals. One of the great learning opportunities this program can provide is in the teens taking responsibility for their own behavior, while developing the ability to travel independently away from home.
Parents: Please discuss with your teen what it means to make good decisions while away from home, keeping in mind the standards and values expressed in this CODE OF CONDUCT. We are trying to maintain a high degree of integrity and emphasize the importance of maintaining the Code of Conduct for the three weeks of the trip. The safety of individuals and the integrity of the program must be maintained. We ask that parents sit down with their teen and discuss the important issues outlined in this letter.
